The 25th National Cowboy Poetry Gathering in Elko, Nevada, is a celebration of life in the rural West, featuring the contemporary and traditional arts that arise from lives lived caring for land and livestock. Poetry, music, dance, stories, film, photography, food - all contribute to the texture of this event. We will spend one day touring Elko ranches and lunch will be a home-cooked Dutch-oven meal with ranch families. Highlights of the week will be: A Ride With Bob the first-ever play about the life and music of western swing legend Bob Wills. Cowboy Celtic Dinner Theatre 'Down the Drove Road', Riders in the Sky concert and Keynote Speaker Justice Sandra Day O'Conner - Growing Up on a Cattle Ranch. We will socialize in the Pioneer Saloon, attend performances of poetry, music and dance until our feet are sore and return home with a wonderful experience under our belts. This is a first for Daytripping and we extend a whole-hearted invitation to hop on the bandwagon and join the fun. The tour will include two meals a day and we will be staying at the new Country Hearth Inn.
